Coffin Marine was incorporated in 2005. Donna Coffin - president,  John Coffin - vice-president, contractor  and site manager.
John Coffin is our expert resource and manages all of our operations.  John has worked on the waters of the Florida Keys as a  USCG Captain for over 30 years. He has experience sailing and power boating in the Caribbean, the Keys, French Riviera, Majorca and the Mediterranean.  John has many talents. He was born in Prince Edward Island the son of a fisherman. Being on the water is in his blood. He came to the Keys after completing a degree in Science and Drama at University of Toronto. For several years he cruised and dove around the back country and the Marquesas with his wife Donna. He taught advanced Scuba at Seacamp on Big Pine Key and sat for his USCG Captains license and EMT certification. John spent 10 years in marine restoration and boat building while taking time to commercial dive for lobster. He was a commercial fisherman with traps for 5 years.  He has logged many hours underwater diving our local reefs and sea bottom.  For 5 seasons he ran a large sailing yacht in the Caribbean and European waters.  John spent
5 years working for Spirit Marine and Sea Tow in marine salvage and towing.  In 2005 he incorporated and started Coffin Marine Services, Inc. He still runs contract towing jobs with Seatow.
He has vast knowledge in the salvage business and has worked with the Coast Guard, Monroe County and FEMA on many projects. Coffin Marine was responsible for the marine cleanup after Hurricane Wilma salvaging over 300 boats.  He holds a marine contracting license in Florida and is a certified  environmental hazard waste responder for Monroe County and the Coast Guard. John approches every job with care to get the job done right safely, accurately and on time.
Every day has new challenges for John and our crew. His days are never boring.  One day he is demolishing a house boat in Key West Harbor for the city, the next putting in a dock in Marathon or navigational signs in the back country. He spent a month salvaging the Lady Luck after Hurricane Wilma in conjunction with FEMA and Fish and Wildlife. He worked on environmental cleanup filling in the sea bottom at the grounding site of the Yacht Legacy. The local whale rescue group used John's services to move stranded whales to a holding area and later for release.  Dock pilings, debree booms, dregding or canal cleanup are familiar projects.
Coffin Marine's staff are always working to develop our skills and knowledge.  We keep our insurance and training up to date. John has worked hard to build Coffin Marine's reputation as a great company to do business with. We work efficiently and deliver great services for reasonable prices. Let us quote your next job.
